Our Values
We’ve seen first hand how families have to struggle to get help when someone they love is in difficulty. We believe that every individual, no matter what age or income, has the right to access the best intervention and help.
Verbal Behaviour Consultants (VBC) was established by Louise Kadayer, Behaviour Analyst and Psychologist, BCABA, (GBR) CBPS, ACC, PG Cert ABA in SP Ed., BSc (Hons) Psyc and lead consultant and director of the organisation. She watched as a close friend had to endure a constant battle between getting the right help for her autistic child and the excessive service fees she was charged for that help.
Recognising that the system put in place by the health service was overstretched and under-resourced, VBC was established to ensure parents and families got not only the information they needed to help their children progress, but essential, hands-on help through an active support network of families in similar situations. By establishing these networks our families support each other, helping those coping with autism and other behavioural and developmental disabilities establish solid relationships with like-minded people.
Moving Forward
VBC uses the most recent research to provide methods of support, which have been proven to progress development in autistic and developmentally disabled children and young adults. The aim is to move them to a point where they are indistinguishable from their peers and have more control over their own lives. We campaign actively for ongoing, affordable services for parents, both in the public and private sector. We often hold free forums and seminars to parent groups who may not have been given all the information they need to make an informed decision as to how their child should be treated. It is our plan to continue with these forums, bringing the power of knowledge to those who need it so desperately.
Active Progression
VBC wants to see active progression in the provision for children, teenagers and adults with developmental delays. There is no age limit to the individuals we work with – babies as young as three months through to adults beyond their forties all need the help and support that a true network and specialised intervention can give them.
With international support and a growing network of members with a huge range of personal and professional experience, VBC is moving the treatment and support of those with developmental disabilities forward into the 21st Century.
